These illustrations were created by “Hayley,” a client who has successfully undergone the integration process of alien contact, leading to Interspecies Communication. The accompanying narrative summarizes the key points along Hayley's transformational journey.

1. Alien Behind Couch

1. Alien Behind Couch
People may come to us to explore whether or not they have had encounters. Perhaps they recognize something from the media. Hayley first began exploring when she saw the “visitor” on the cover of Whitley Strieber's book, Communion in 1987. She was astonished because she'd seen that face before.

Hayley: “At the age of 2 or 3 years old, I vividly recall being confronted by what looked like a monster in our living room. It was the middle of the night and I was scared and running down the hallway toward my parents' room. I slipped and fell, and saw — above the top of a chair — a large, white bald head which turned instantly and looked down at me on the floor.... The large eyes really scared me. My next memory is of jumping up and running into the den, closing the door and huddling in the fetal position on the couch, watching the doorknob turn. All conscious memory ends there.”

“Both my parents to this day recall how upset I was over this incident and that I worried that monsters would come to get me at night. My mother remembers an incident that same summer, possibly that same night, when she and my father were both awakened in the middle of the night to an intense, bright light shining into the bedroom window from our backyard. She said the light was so bright they both woke up, sat up in bed, asking each other, "What's that?" and then for some unknown reason made the decision to lay back down and go to sleep.”

As an adult, Hayley experienced the symptoms of posttraumatic stress, including flashbacks, hypervigilance and an exaggerated startle response. She even had a spontaneous flashback while under nitrous oxide at the dentist. Desperate to find an answer, she began researching UFO cases and found that her fears of intruders fit the pattern of alien abductions. She found a UFO researcher who used hypnosis to aid recall.

“During a hypnotic regression I was shocked by very unexpected images that I suddenly started getting while trying to recall this incident. I remembered in very vivid detail everything previously mentioned--up to the point of seeing the monster. At that point, the monster suddenly rushed forward in a white blur toward me.”

“The next image was of myself floating in the fetal position into the den toward the window — to the back yard with the monster beside me. I then find myself looking at a brightly lit, white room or ceiling, with three large, white bald heads with large dark eyes. I could [see] movement and silver objects with tracers. They were doing something to the right side of my brain and I felt intense pain (a slight scoop-mark scar remains from unknown causes).”

But Hayley was not convinced that she had experienced an alien encounter. Moreover, mere regressive hypnosis had not helped to quell her fears. Realizing that she needed a more comprehensive approach, Hayley sought Janet out for help. Together, they ruled out possible causes of her traumatization, including temporal lobe epilepsy and childhood abuse. Instead of using hypnosis, they focused on coping in the midst of Hayley's continuing flashbacks, and consciously remembered experiences. Hayley described the following anomalous experiences.

2. Three Beings

2. Three Beings
Hayley had a flashback of this experience from the age of 6 or 7. She and her mother had taken their rowboat out on a lake to photograph the sunrise. In this image, three beings are materializing out of the bushes. Hayley has no conscious recall of what took place after that....

3. Three Colored Spheres

3. Three Colored Spheres
For a few years, Hayley had flashbacks of three colored spheres floating between trees. She experienced only a visual image without feeling or emotion. While there was no conscious connection between this and the three beings in drawing #2, both flashbacks occurred around the same time. Hayley later had several dreams of spheres flying toward her head whereupon she would lose consciousness.

4. The Interrupted Journey

4. The Interrupted Journey
A similar highway triggered this flashback, during which Hayley felt fear and saw an intense light coming in through the windshield. Most likely, the following “highway accident” was a screen memory.

Hayley: “At the age of 22, I was driving along an old highway road at 2:00 a.m. I saw what I took to be a huge car accident in the middle of the road about a quarter-mile ahead. I could see flashing lights from what I thought were emergency vehicles. I was upset, thinking that they had the whole road blocked off, and I was wondering how I was going to get through. It took me 30-60 seconds to get back up the hill to where I should have been almost upon the accident. To my surprise, everything was completely dark — no vehicles were in sight and nothing blocking the road.... I was really in shock after I saw that the whole scene had disappeared, and [I] noted afterward that it had taken me longer than normal to get home.”

“Though I have no idea if there is a causal connection, I developed the following characteristics: I took on the emotional persona of a victim for no apparent reason. Emotional symptoms included: rage, depression, paranoia of intruders. I stopped eating red meat for ethical reasons. I started becoming very concerned about environmental issues.”

Janet's dissertation describes the process of healing from traumatic stress — by creating a narrative from the sensory fragments.

5. Alien Being Coming Through Window

5. Alien Being Coming Through Window
Hayley initially remembered this experience as a “dream.” She was awakened from a nap by sounds outside her bedroom window. She thought it was kids with spray paint vandalizing the house. When she got up to call 911,she saw the above head emerging through the window. "It's a kid climbing in the window," she told herself. This so-called dream ended, and she awoke in a panic. When she later drew what she'd seen, she realized it was not “a bunch of kids with spray paint.”

Other peoplein varying states of consciousness — have seen these beings emerging through walls. We believe this demonstrates that the beings' reality is not confined to our space/time continuum. Realizing that she needed experience with altered states to remain conscious during the experiences, Hayley took Robert Monroe's Gateway Program. She developed her ability to have out-of-body experiences (OBEs). Then Hayley began a meditation process which brought her back into her body.

6. The Doorway Opens to the Alien Realm

6. The Doorway Opens to the Alien Realm
Hayley: “I have had dozens of experiences that happen after I have fallen asleep. I will feel as if something wakes me up. Then I experience a vibration, the sound of a swarm of bees, and paralysis, which many times causes me to lose consciousness again. The other times, I feel myself [either my body or spirit] levitating up through the roof of the house.”

Typically, Hayley feels bodily terror. This picture illustrates the altered state she experiences: a dark, swirling mass just in front of her that signals the beings' arrival. She later remembers the experience as dream-like. We tend to compartmentalize experiences into waking reality vs. dreams, saying, “I don't know what that was, so it must have been a dream.” We need a more complex schema — of altered states of consciousness — to organize these experiences. We believe that predominately THETA brain-waves are implicated.

Hayley began to understand the body terror — as a physiological signal of the opening of the doorway to the alien realm. It may simply be the body's response to the unknown. Whatever the reason for it, processing the body's fear response is essential.

The following steps describe Hayley's evolution:

a) She developed the ability to objectively witness her body terror. Witnessing can be developed through a meditation practice. By this time, Hayley had become so determined that her fear had become secondary to the search for “confirmation.” b) Believing that no being could harm her, Hayley began to consciously project love. She thus surmounted the physical symptoms of fear, transcending them through feeling-states of love. Hayley felt she had passed a test!

During the course of Hayley's process, she experienced a Realization Event (RE): An event that forces a person to decide that he or she has had a close encounter. In Hayley's RE, she was moved physically in bed by the beings. Finally, she was convinced that the encounters were physically real! Hayley had passed a milestone.

Eventually, the beings began to interact with Hayley more freely. They even introduced themselves — making funny faces — during a meditation. In 1999, Hayley experienced a fully conscious encounter during which she was levitated above her bed while watching 3 beings below her. The visitors telepathically relayed an image to her of a hybrid being — jumping for joy! They were elated that Hayley managed to remain conscious.

Hayley's encounters continue to range from the physical to the inter-dimensional, as she develops the ability to retain conscious awareness and engage in Interspecies Communication.
