In 1987, Janet was seriously ill with the cancer known as Hodgkin's Disease. Just as she faced death determined to reject traditional medicine, non-traditional forces intervened. Janet dreamt about facilitating encounters between dolphins & cancer patients. The dream's message was clear. The key to healing her cancer was to counter its imploded, immature energy with expanded awareness. Cetaceans, that is, dolphins & whales, exemplified such expanded states of consciousness perfectly. After all, people had reported communing with them during states of Enlightenment.

Janet: When I awoke
from the dream, I felt exhilarated. The reassurance that I was meant
to live gave me the will and the courage to fight. My faith in that
dream led to my active participation in the medical process. But
dolphins? I had never even seen one. There are no dolphins in
Seattle so I made friends with the Beluga whales at the Point
Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. What an awakening! Their sensitivity and
lively play sessions lifted my spirits and left me with a sense of profound
connection. And a sense of love. . . Surely my connection with Cetaceans
facilitated my healing. |

Janet embarked on a course of studying transformational processes of the body, such as healing physical illness or emotional abuse. She swam with wild dolphins in the Florida Keys simply to explore her dream. Having successfully facilitated her own process, she became adept at helping others, especially cancer patients. Janet created an Animal-Assisted Therapy program to facilitate encounters between children with cancer & Beluga whales. Wish-For-A-Whale explored the therapeutic potential of Human-Animal interaction ultimately exploring the potential of love that golden connection which heals us all.
