Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness featuring selective perception, a process in which the subject, who is in control, chooses to perceive only what is relevant to the task at hand. Most people are unaware of the vast amount of information that can be accessed by one's mind. Once this material is brought to awareness and consciously transformed, change can be rapid. Hypnosis involves guided concentration. The guidance may be provided by a qualified practitioner or, as in self-hypnosis, by the individual subject. Self-hypnosis can be learned by virtually anyone and can provide a lifetime of benefit. Hynotherapy provides a process that allows the client to follow their own road to self-discovery and healing. Dr. Beck is trained in the Hypno-Behavioral Therapy model, which is a combination of: · Humanistic
psychology Hypno-Behavioral Therapy is a highly effective treatment tool that addresses body, mind and spirit. The therapist operates from an intuitive acceptance and creates safety for the client to open up to his or her deepest level. Hypnosis helps one re-connect with dissociated emotions and disowned parts of ourselves. Throughout the session, the client's emotional release is encouraged. Hypno-Behavioral Therapy utilizes age regression and and guided imagery, as well as post-hypnotic suggestions. Dr. Beck has used Hypno-Behavioral Therapy for successfully dealing with:
Hypnosis can be very beneficial in many cases as a brief therapy in itself. It is also a valuable adjunct in psychotherapy.
Some Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I be hypnotized? Anyone with a physically
normal brain can be hypnotized to a greater or lesser degree. Progressive
relaxation, as we sometimes call it, is a very individual process. Every
person and every session is unique. In my experience, I've found that
virtually everyone can be hypnotized. In fact, you have probably already
been hypnotized without even realizing it. Will I lose control? There is no loss of control. A person who does not want to be hypnotized cannot be induced to do or say anything which violates personal standards of behavior or integrity. During hypnosis, you are aware and conscious at all times. Though hypnosis facilitates states of stress-free mental and physical relaxation, you will be able to move and feel, hear, and think freely, at will. Rather than giving up control, people gain control over their lives and the issues they have had difficulty negotiating. The therapist's job is not to control the client, but to facilitate the client in learning to deal with difficult issues in a healthy, constructive way. |

Breathwork
is a powerful method of self-exploration, personal transformation, and
healing. It is based on modern consciousness research, depth psychology,
and spiritual practices dating back to antiquity.
Simply put, deep,
circular breathing induces non-ordinary states of consciousness. These
states allow mobilization of the spontaneous healing potential of the
psyche. Breathwork mediates access to all levels of human experience,
including unfinished issues from one's personal history, and the entire
spectrum of the field of consciousnes called the transpersonal
realm. By surrendering to the intrinsic wisdom of the body, we expand our view of our own nature, and of life itself. Breathwork is a useful tool for multiple goals, including clearing stuck emotional energy. We can create expanded awareness by mobilizing blocked energies to transform symptoms. Taking the material of our ordinary, day-to-day experience as the starting point of our explorations, breathwork can assist us in becoming more fully present in our lives. It can be used in conjunction with hypnosis to achieve a new level of personal freedom that may not be attainable through other more traditional methods. In my psychotherapy practice, people have achieved new levels of self-sufficiency, self-esteem and personal empowerment through its use. Accelerated breathing is useful for a wide range of issues which can be discussed during the course of therapy. Breathwork holds the potential of changing your life in many positive ways. |
